1BCT Uncases Colors in Afghanistan
CAMP MIKE SPANN, Afghanistan -- The 10th Mountain Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team uncased its colors, May 5, during a brief ceremony held on Camp Mike Spann in Northern Afghanistan.

Armed Forces Day parade to be May 15 in Watertown
The Watertown Armed Forces Day parade will be held at 10 a.m. May 15.

Fort Drum soldiers and the 10th Mountain Division Band, as well as a few local bands and community groups, will march down Washington Street from Watertown High School to Stone Street.

Press Release- 2-87 INF Valorous Awards Ceremony May 7

FORT DRUM, NY -- The 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team will conduct a valorous awards ceremony 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the 2-87 INF headquarters here.

Maj. Gen. James Terry, Fort Drum and 10th Mountain Division commanding general, will present awards of valor recognizing select Soldiers for their heroic actions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Soldiers receiving awards are:

Sgt. 1st Class Richard J. Olson Jr. will receive the Silver Star.

Corporal Derrick V. Blackburn will receive the Bronze Star with Valor Device.

Specialist Jesse R. Sprint will receive the Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device.

The Silver Star is the third-highest military decoration that can be awarded to a member of any branch of the United States armed forces for valor in the face of the enemy.

Awards with a Valor Device denotes those individuals who performed valorous acts during direct combat with an enemy force or accomplishments of a heroic nature in direct support of operations against an enemy force.
