Statement from Ft Drum Garrison Commander, Col Tom Riddle

"While the recent incident in New Jersey reiterates our need to be attentive to the possibility of an unknown threat, it is important to point out that the Federal Bureau of Investigations preliminary report does not link the involved individual to any terrorist group or ideation. Upon the discovery of the map in the individual's living quarters we were immediately notified and are receiving regular updates on the investigation. As Garrison Commander it is my #1 priority to ensure the safest possible environment for our Soldiers, Families and Civilians here on post, and I am confident based on various visible and many more not-so-visible security measures we are doing our best to maintain the necessary level of vigilance. There is no threat to Fort Drum as a result of this incident."
